Who Are We?

The Georgia Association for Pupil Transportation (GAPT) is dedicated to promoting safe, reliable, and professional student transportation across Georgia. Founded in 1964, GAPT has worked in partnership with the Georgia Department of Education’s Pupil Transportation Division to support the people, programs, and practices that keep Georgia’s students moving safely every day.

Our members represent every corner of the state — from large metropolitan districts to small rural systems, as well as private schools and contracted providers. Together, they operate nearly 20,000 school buses and transport more than 1 million students daily — covering the equivalent of 30 trips around the world every single day.

GAPT proudly includes nine of the nation’s 100 largest school bus fleets, with the metro Atlanta area leading the country in daily student ridership at over 400,000 passengers.

Vision

GAPT will serve as the leading resource for pupil transportation professionals in Georgia and inspire a culture of continuous improvement.

Mission

GAPT will build capacity in pupil transportation professionals by providing information, promoting innovation, and serving as an advocate as they partner with their communities to meet the needs of students.

Through training, advocacy, and innovation, GAPT continues to elevate the standards of pupil transportation — ensuring that every student’s ride is a safe one.
